Is there anything else in Office 365 that I can look at to get some useful information about the breach such as how the system was compromised in the first place - was it from a service addon or brute force dictionary attack etc. Does Office 365 have logs to show what people are doing once logged in? As far as I can determine they sent emails to people in the address books that were still on that user account, but I don't know if they were downloading the address books or what they were doing for 2 hours before sending the malware emails?
I cannot find what they were doing after the login time as there seems to be nothing in the logs other than when they logged in. They logged in yesterday around midday, but only started sending out malware emails about 2 or 3 hours later after logging in. They key issue that I am wanting to determine here is how they sent the emails as there is nothing in the sent folder, but there are a few emails in the draft folders! Are they sending from a phone app that is not syncing its sent folder with the server sent folder? According to the logs, it's connecting to exchange online via chrome.
Is there any way to determine whether they are connecting via phone app, Outlook or another email client etc. The sign in activity seems to suggest that they are only using Chrome to login. How did they login again without knowing the new password. So I am assuming that a token was used or something? I have looked through the entire Office 365 settings and can find nothing like a device registered or token key or anything.

They did not reset the password as the password was still what I changed it to and there is no ways they could have guess what the new password was in less than one minute. I changed the password of this account, but when I re-activated the account the next day, as I wanted to login as that user to see what address book contacts were available to that user, I discovered that the hacker had logged back into the account again during that time. What I cannot determine is the following: I have found the signs in activity which shows when the account was logged into and it also shows that O365 Suite UX and that Office 365 Exchange Online was accessed that it appears to be a Macbook and Chrome browser.
I have discovered the mail flow rules which show me what recipients were sent an email and whether it was delivered or not. Yesterday we discovered that one of the accounts on the old office 365 system had been hacked into somehow and was sending out loads of malware! I have now de-activated every single account pending removal of the entire office 365 system as it now possible to delete the whole system now. For reasons too long to go into, the office 365 system was never deleted as it was necessary to keep it even though it was not being used for email anymore. But one of my clients previously had Office 365 setup for their email and active directory etc. I am unfamiliar with Office 365 as we use Mdaemon for our Mail services.
